GILBERT
Gilbert
(October 2017 - December 2020)
Meet the happiest opossum in the world! Gilbert was found in January 2018, as a juvenile, after being hit by a car. Our amazing team of wildlife rehabilitators and veterinarians rescued and saved his life. His journey was not easy, as his injuries were severe. After a few surgeries, medical treatments, and lots of rest, Gilbert healed and was given a second chance. He could not return to the wild because the damage from the accident left him blind, with several less teeth, and a partially amputated tail. Gilbert became an Opossum Ambassador under the care of a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, aka The Snack Lady. Through educational programs and social media platforms, Gilbert helps educate the public about the importance of all wildlife. Gilbert passed away due to complications from old age. he was almost 3 1/2 years old! a wonderfully long life for an opossum. His legacy lives on, forever in our hearts.
